Wow! What a summer! After two wonderful Seminars by the Sea on Minilessons and Representation at Ocean Beach, I did three Learn-to-Leads for administrators from across the US and Canada in my home on the beach. Each session was full of great discussion on ways to support teachers, and how to move systemically across whole districts and within schools with the implementation of the CCSS Standards of Mathematical Practice. I am grateful to all of you who attended. You make my life full and rich knowing the work is growing and spreading. If you have pics you want me to post, just send them my way and up they will go! I've posted one below from the session on the 18th and 19th.
Our first time being an exhibitor at NCTM and what fun it was! So many of you stopped by to say hi and to see our new assessment app for the landscapes and the new personalized professional online support system for CFLM. Both products are being sold now at an early bird discount price. Contact us for more information.
And congratulations to the winners of our lottery! We hope you enjoy the apps and the platform, and for those of you who won free admission into Seminars by the Sea this summer, we will see you there!
Wow! What a wonderful two days we had at my house. Memories I will cherish! Such deep, hard thinking about change and what it takes to create systemic change in a district or even just one school! Sitting on the porch in the beautiful sunshine with the waves crashing in the distance.... Meditative, yet not necessarily relaxing! We all worked so hard and learned so much. Studying the landscapes of teacher development together and getting everyone's insights brought them to life for me. Please send me all of your pics from the two days and I'll post them. Let everyone know that the next learn-to-lead is scheduled for September 22-23.
Quote sent in from Heather: "Let's get rid of labels for a minute and say everyone is LD – everyone has a way of mathematizing a situation."
Another successful, wonderful series of seminars by the sea. The weather couldn't have been more beautiful and lunches on the deck overlooking the sparkling ocean just made this so special. In late September the crowds are gone and we had the whole beach
Hi folks. What a great time we had at the first Seminars by the Sea! I've attached some pics and the powerpoint about the Common Core
